About NAF
The Nanyang Arts Festival (NAF) was started back in 2003 as the Cultural Festival to promote culture and the performing arts in NTU. Through this festival, we hope to increase the level of appreciation and awareness of the arts scene amongst students, be it in visual or performing arts. The festival also engages and promotes arts participation through workshops, competitions and performances. Lastly, NAF supports the various arts-related events and performances by the 21 Member Clubs of CAC, and in recent years have grown to include the many cultural and arts groups of NTU. The festival lasts from January to March every year. Since 2008, NAF has also been endorsed and supported by the National Arts Council.
Our Vision
To develop NTU's potential as a cultural hub and establish NAF as a premier event that will place NAF on the cultural and arts calendar of Singapore.
Logo Description
The logo is a stylised combination of the letters 'n', 'a' and 'f', which is the abbreviation of the words Nanyang Arts Festival.
Drawn in a calligraphic stroke coupled with the fluid, free-flowing motion, it signifies the art and dance of the festival and of the Member Clubs.
Music is represented through the curvature of the 'a' and the 'f' letters, which mimics that of the G-clef musical symbol.
The two colours of the logo represent harmony, with the yellow-gold symbolising the rich culture and heritage of the Member Clubs, and the red representing the vibrancy and dynamism of the festival.
The bold serif font type portrays a contemporary feel, signifying the positive direction the festival is headed towards, yet maintaining the classic and timeless look, synonymous with the heritage of arts.
Objectives of NAF 2011
To present an annual festival of music, arts and dance of the highest standard of NTU.
To heighten awareness of NAF among the NTU population and the public through a hands on approach, where they will be able to actively participate and appreciate the Arts.
To provide greater publicity for CAC 21 Member Clubs and the cultural & arts groups of NTU and NIE.
NAF 2011's Theme
The theme for the Nanyang Arts Festival 2011 is "Journey". An eclectic mix of a plethora of elements, the Festival will feature timeless showcases of artwork from regional and foreign cultures. We will explore the infinite shapes and forms that Art assumes as well as the multi-faceted perspectives of individuals for the Arts. We also seek to engage individuals in an exciting journey, attuning their faculties to the transforming landscape of visuals, touch and sound that transcends from time to time. The theme "Journey" also represents our drive to sustain the evolution of artwork and create opportunities for artistic expression, thereby making the Nanyang Arts Festival this year the most exciting one yet.

Our Milestones
2003
Cultural Festival was conceptualized with the sole aim of promoting culture and the performing arts in NTU.
2004
Cultural Festival was renamed the NTU Festival of Arts (FOA). "A small stream that will one day become a mighty river", quoted from Mr Chan Soo Sen. Minister of State of Education, Guest-of-Honour for FOA 2004 Opening ceremony.
2006
Festival of Arts was renamed as Nanyang Arts Festival. NAF 2006, "Without Boundaries", held its closing ceremony at Toa Payoh HDB Hub.
2007
Themed "Kaleidoscope - Be Dazzled", NAF 2007 aim was to bring arts from all aspects and genres together.
2008
NAF 2008, "M.A.D.ness" received recognition and endorsement from National Arts Council.
2009
Once again, NAF 2009 received recognition and endorsement from National Arts Council. Themed "Essence", there was greater awareness of NAF within the NTU population as vertical banners were displayed on NTU lamp posts for the first time. It was also the first time we collaborated with another of CAC's Special Projects: Joint Dance Concert to conclude the NAF.
2010
(Archives)
Themed "Colourworks", NAF 2010 brought in many different aspects of the arts that painted a new colour in her milestone. For the first time ever in Singapore, NAF 2010 has created a new Singapore Record by piecing more than 1000 pieces of sand-art to form a huge montage of "NAF 10". This was exhibited during our closing ceremony held at IMM.
